So... It is long time to start planning the weeklong.
I want to help out this time - but Woofin did such a great job last year....

    So anyways,

The plan is to go north this year....

Anyone have a special spot they'd like to hit along the way - besides Red Eyes? LOL

We definitely need to hit Mears Point Marina where Red Eyes is, great marina and huge pool. Cambridge and St Michaels I would say would be places to hit too. Although it appears a lot of the marinas north, like Annapolis, Baltimore, and those on the eastern shore don't have pools. And with jelly fish, not too sure about swimming in the bay. I think we should try and hit marinas with pools if we head north so we can keep cool. A week hanging on the boat without a pool or being able to hop in the water would be brutal. Let's start the marina research! I'd be cool if we just found some new small mom and pop places that have a pool. Loved Deltaville last year! Could rainy weekend project!

Well I take that back, there are a ton of marinas with pools. Guess the question is how far do we want to go, and do we want to move every day?
I have been looking at Tilghman Island, St Michales, Kent Narrows, Cambridge, Annapolis, Baltimore, and depending how far we wanna go, looks like there is a cool marina in Georgetown, MD, but that might be pushing the distance for a week trip. There are just too many options!

On the must do list, I think are St. Michaels and Kent Narrows for sure.

I am almost thinking make a long trip the first day, maybe to Taylors Island? Looks like a small mom and pop place. Then just go with the flow and go day my day and see where we end up and see how the bay is treating us. Kinda like the idea of not having a set plan....

No, we do not want to move everyday. Well, I prefer not to.
The idea of not having a set plan... no float plan. LOL Geez, what are you thinking?
I have the Chesapeake Bay 2010 Waterway Guide here on my lap...gonna take a look, but yes... St. Michaels I would love to visit. Anything else, I'm game for. You won't hear a word out of me except for "you hungry" or "you thirsty?"

Well, should have a wolfpack meeting memorial day....speaking of which, think i will start a thread on that. But anyways, have some sort of plan, and if we are tired of one place take off, if we like the place, maybe stay longer. Maybe Memorial Day, come of with a list of places we wanna hit, come up with a starting point at least.

Well the overall distance from Saint Mary's to Virginia Beach is approximately the same from Saint Mary's to the port of Baltimore.
So the initial leg I think should be to Baltimore and then we can jump from there.

It looks like quit a haul to come back out of Baltimore if we go all the way in, North Point State Park and Heart Miller Island State park look interesting.

Kent Narrows to Prospect Bay then Saint Michaels?

Thats an idea. Hit up Balt first if we wanna go that far. Get as far north as we wanna go, then work our way back, I'm game for that. I'd be game for Annapolis too, also a fun town, if we don't wanna go all the way to inner harbor.

Yeah, I'm thinking Annapolis more myself. Baltimore is quite the haul to go "right back to the city" LOL

OK so going to get some thoughts down to discuss over CB...

1st stop Annapolis. The only marinas with pools are along Back Creek.
The eastern marinas are seperated from downtown and some are mainly neighborhood marinas.

So I am thinking Mears Marina Annapolis, MD
This is a distance of 87 miles from Saint Mary's
    (410) 268-828

It would be 19 miles to go north to round Love Point and come south through Kent Narrows and hit Red Eyes.
Mears Point Marina is on the opposite side of Red Eye's (less of a walk than to the Tiki)
    but has full services. (410-827-8888)
All the other marinas on in that location are much further away or have no service (not even electric)

It would be 14 miles from Red Eyes to Saint Michaels.
Saint Michaels has two marinas with a pool:
    Saint Michaels Marina (410-745-2400)
Bob Pascal's Saint Michaels Harbour Inn, Marina and Spa (410-745-9001)

Then there are three major stops to consider...
Tilghman Island, Oxford, and Cambridge (in order from the bay eastward).

Tilghman and Oxford don't have a whole lot going on
The marina I would look at is Oxford - Hinckley Yacht Services (410-226-5113)
Only marinas with a pool on Tilghman is Tilghman on Chesapeake Marina (410-886-2389)
    and Knapps Narrows (800-322-5181)

It's 20 miles from Saint Michaels to Tilghman

Not much else heading south until we get to Smith Island if we stay East.
Only marina with a pool is Smith Island Marina (410-425-4220) (next to gas dock)
or we could shoot west and hit Chesapeake Beach at Breezy Point, MD.

    Wrapping it up for now...

I have been to Oxford, and its a nice small town, but not much going on at all. But I pretty much have the same list as you Cory, just never got around to posting it. I think Annapolis and Kent Narrow will be our big stops, then hit some smaller towns to get back home.

Also I figure you all will want to take off July 29 or 30. Karen and I will be in California until July 30. Our flight gets in late on the 30th, and we will be out on boat on the 31st. Figure we might have some catching up to do the first day or 2 of our trip depending on when you all leave.

Well it'll probably just be you guys catching us at the staging base... LOL
But like you, yeah not sure how much we are looking to do something vs. explore.
We'll hit it again at Colonial Beach - if we remember :-)
I'm using my Waterway Guide from Dozier's... It's pretty handy once you figure out how to work it.

Yeah I got the same book. Also wouldnt mind stopping in Rock Hall at Watermans Crab House, heard lots of good things about it. Maybe head up there on the trip to Kent Narrow for some crabs for lunch and get to Kent Narrows late in the day. Yeah, we can all look it over at colonial.

Did you say Marina and Spa? http://www.harbourinn.com/marina-information.html
Very nice place, but 90.00 bucks minimum for a week night stay, 125.00 max for weekend stay per night.
Electric is on top of that... 30amp for 8 bucks a day.
    It has a spa! LOL
And a Cafe, wine bar...and boaters get 25% off at the restaurant!
And the ship store has Blue Bunny ice cream as well as smoothies, juices, sodas and water stocked!
    outdoor pool and jacuzzi...
laundry, clean/modern shower house, wireless internet, cable hook-up... lol
    Ok, I'm done.

You guys are doing a great job... keep it up! I'll just throw lines and grab beers when needed.
